Carter's Race Team
Matt and Dwayne Carter both started motorsport at a young age racing karts up until their late teens. From there Matt ran a 1600cc Nissan Sentra in the Nissan Sentra GT championship then had no involvement in motorsport for about 10 years until purchasing an ex Brad Jones AU Falcon supercar which we ran successfully for 3 years. We then sold the AU and purchased our current BF falcon off PCR winning numerous Endurance titles together.
Shane Hodgson started racing karts at the mature age of 17 in the Junior Yamaha class. Within four months he stepped up to the senior echelon of New Zealand Kartsport. Since then he has raced everything from 100cc Senior Yamaha right through to 125cc gearbox classes picking up North Island podium positions and top six positions, all at a national level. Second at the New Zealand Rotax Max Challenge last year was somewhat of a highlight for the 2010 season, only just missing out on a trip to the World Rotax Final in Italy due to his young age. Throughout his kart racing career he has been successful at a regional level as well as picking up numerous Top Half titles and eight club championship titles to name a few. The support from Carters Tyres over the last few years has been of great benefit, not only from a financial point of view but from a learning one. Garry and the boys have brought knowledge and skills to Shanes karting, and he hopes to use these to continue on and further his karting career and ultimately win this years national title.
